This is an estimate based on the published salaried slab rates for the tax year selected. It is not tax advice. Your actual liability depends on allowances, tax credits, other sources of income and tax already withheld from you.

Worth knowing

  • Profit means turnover less the expenses actually allowable under the Ordinance, which is rarely the same as the figure in your own books.
  • An AOP is taxed on this same table. A private limited company is not — it pays corporate tax instead.
  • Minimum tax on turnover under section 113 can exceed this figure for a low-margin business.

Frequently asked questions

Why is business income taxed more heavily than salary?

Because it sits on a different slab table. A salaried person pays 1% on the slice between Rs. 600,000 and Rs. 1.2 million; a business owner pays 15% on the same slice. The gap narrows at the top but never closes, and the surcharge above Rs. 10 million is 10% for business income against 9% for salary.

Does this cover minimum tax on turnover?

No. Section 113 charges a minimum tax on turnover regardless of profit, and for a high-turnover, low-margin business that figure can be higher than the tax on profit shown here. If your margin is thin, ask us to check both before you file.
